NEW DELHI: Further augmenting the warmth of relations between the two countries, Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo today shared a cute little information about his family with Prime Minister Narendra Modi informing him (PM Modi) that his grandson is also named after him. The grandchild, born in March 2016 to Widodo’s eldest son Gibran Rakabuming, was named Jan Ethes Srinarendra.
The delightful detail was shared during PM Modi’s maiden visit to Indonesia. The Prime Minister, on a three-nation tour to Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, reached the Southeast Asian nation last night.
He began his first official engagement in the Indonesian capital by laying a wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery after which he was accorded a ceremonial red carpet welcome with a guard of honour at the Istana Merdeka – one of the six presidential palaces of Indonesia, this morning.
PM Modi was welcomed with a performance, a rendition of the famous song ‘Sabarmati Ke Sant Tune Kar Diya Kamal’, by the renowned Indonesian singer Fryda Lucyana who is not only known for her voice but also for her social and charity work at the banquet hosted by the President.
